The new building located in Pinner Memorial Park, displays Pinner’s significant collection of W Heath Robinson’s work. The building includes a permanent exhibition gallery, a temporary exhibitions gallery, archive and learning / activity spaces.
Working with ZMMA the design was developed for a timber framed museum. The ‘roof on short timbers’ is a distinctive feature which reflects his characteristic humour.
Structure comprised a piled flat slab with heave protection and concrete up-stands to receive CLT panels.
Pile locations were adjusted around the root protection zone. ACA worked closely with the CLT manufacturer to coordinate the structural details.
The Museum opened on 15 October 2016.
This project won the Retail & Leisure Project of the Year at the Structural Timber Awards 2019.
