A single storey extension lowered into the landscape to give optimum connection to existing school facilities. The extension provided a dining room, classroom, toilets and play area. Works also comprised a new car park and drainage system.
Extension structure comprised a lightly reinforced mesh slab forming both foundation and floor, load bearing masonry walls and light weight steel and timber roof. Reinforced blockwork was used for the retaining faces which were tanked.
Gabions were used to retain the carpark set a little below roof level. To reduce offsite and onsite material movement hardcore derived from the demolition was reused to fill the gabions. These were then clad to soften appearance.
SUDS drainage included chamber and trench soakaways in soft landscaping.
