Works comprised the remodelling of a 1950 ’s house involving th removal of the original rear wall at ground floor, a new side extension and a new single storey rear extension.
The architect was keen to achieve a seamless transition between the existing and new spaces. Structural details were developed to avoid beam downstands. In one case a 9 m span beam was neatly concealed within the first floor to make this possible.
The modern full height glazed extension provides a large kitchen, dining, office and living space.
The ultra slim roof profile edge profile was carefully detailed in timber and steel above the sliding glazed panels. ACA worked closely with the architect to achieve this.
