Trafalgar Road Baptist Church, Horsham

New Build Baptist Church

Following a fund raising exercise the existing small and outdated church was demolished making way for this brand new building. This includes a large multi-use worship space with moveable partitions, meetings rooms, café and entrance with two storey high faceted glazing.

Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) were used to form the roof and walls, engineered joists at first floor and a ground bearing slab and pad footings for the foundation. The SIPs panels were supplemented with steelwork framing to achieve the large roof spans.

ACA worked closely with the SIPs manufacturer to deliver the additional steelwork strengthening required. A full storey height truss concealed within the wall was designed to span over the hall supporting the first floor and balcony for the sound desk. Movable partitions below this enabled the worship space to be subdivided. Clerestory glazing was designed to draw natural light into the worship space.
