ACA worked with Architect Thomas Ford & Partners to solve a demanding brief to replace a floor with several burials below, while avoiding risk to welfare of medieval wall paintings. While limecrete offered the solution to preserving the moisture regime in the walls by maintaining permeability, ACA expertise developed a specification for a light duty limecrete structural slab spanning burials. Careful geotechnical analysis ensured that the slab was well within capacity. Details were developed to span a crypt housing 12 coffins.
